Nancy O'Dell started her career in broadcasting as a reporter at WPDE-TV, Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Later, she was an anchor and morning reporter at WCBD TV. The stories she reported in Charleston concerning the lack of leniency by police when it comes to DUI cases prompted a State Law Enforcement Division to look into the matter. The result was states authorities enforcing more rigorous rules in these instances. According to the Associated Press awarded Ms. O'Dell with an award for the Best Report of the year Award to every aspect of South Carolina media. Following her work in Charleston O'Dell was a anchor and investigative reporter at the NBC Miami station WTVJ-TV prior to her move to Access Hollywood as a weekend co-anchor and weekday correspondent. She also works as an anchor on Dateline NBC and NBC News Today. The anchor has hosted a number of Pre-ShowArrivals programs for The Emmys as well as The Golden Globe Awards. Her other co-hosting credits include the Miss USA pageant, and Miss Universe.
